Why teach children about chakras?

At Zen Club, we believe that children are never too young to connect with their inner wisdom. Inspired by Louise Hay’s philosophy—where thoughts shape health and self-love is the foundation of healing—we invite children to gently explore their emotional energy through playful, body-based awareness. And one beautiful way to do that? Through the language of chakras.

Louise Hay often taught that our physical symptoms are deeply connected to emotional patterns. A sore throat might mean unexpressed feelings. A tense belly could signal fear. Rather than ignoring these signals, she encouraged curious compassion. For children, we adapt this gently: “My body talks to me. I listen with love.”

Why Teach Kids About Chakras?

Chakras are colourful, symbolic energy centres that mirror parts of our emotional and physical world. By exploring these with children, we give them tools to:

  • Recognise where they hold feelings (“My tummy feels tight—maybe I’m nervous”)

  • Balance their energy through breath or movement (“Let’s try grounding and feeling safe with our red root chakra”)

  • Build self-awareness without judgment (“I might need to open my heart centre and show friendly energy to others”)

How We Bring Chakras to Life at Zen Club

Children learn best through play. We introduce chakras through colour, storytelling, and sensory-rich rituals:

  • 🟥 Root (Red): Feeling safe and steady. We practice stomping, grounding, and strong poses like “mountain”.

  • 🟧 Sacral (Orange): Emotions and creativity. We dance, doodle, and share feeling words.

  • 🟨 Solar Plexus (Yellow): Confidence and power. We play games that celebrate strengths and bravery.

  • 🟩 Heart (Green): Love and kindness. Mirror affirmations and recognising our feelings.

  • 🟦 Throat (Blue): Speaking our truth. Breathing out words, singing, and story-sharing.

  • 🟪 Third Eye & Crown (Indigo/Violet): Intuition and connection. Visualization, quiet time, and “mind garden” meditations.

Through each activity, we echo Hay’s affirmations like: “I am safe. I speak with love. I trust myself. Thank you body”

Final Thoughts

Louise Hay taught us that healing begins within. At Zen Club, we’re passing that wisdom on—wrapped in colour, movement, and love—so children grow not just strong, but whole.
